Mainspring was formed by Matthew and Pamela Murchison as a unique and flexible ensemble that presents concerts of world, folk, and original music. The ensemble fuses elements of Celtic, Latin, jazz, and classical music with an inventive instrumentation to create an exciting new sound.
Who we are...
The members of Mainspring have performed across the country and abroad, from California to New York, from Illinois to Italy, and everywhere in between. They have performed at regional and national conferences and have won awards from national and international competitions in both classical and jazz idioms.
What we do...
A typical concert may consist of traditional jigs and reels from Scotland and Ireland, beautiful Mexican serenades, sambas, a suite of Spanish folk music, an Armenian lament, entertaining original music, and always plenty of light-hearted fun!
Education and Outreach...
Mainspring is committed to music education and outreach through masterclasses and workshops for students of all ages. Masterclasses with one or more members of Mainspring can be customized to fit your needs. Please call or e-mail for clinic and residency information.
